The Clemson branch of Every Campus a Refuge takes two primary approaches to conducting work with our local families.
Operating as a campus club, ECAR at Clemson’s student organization provides support for weekly ESOL classes with our refugee families and hosts specific events to build community and fundraise for our work.
Student Org members are able to:
Teach weekly adult ESOL classes
Teaching weekly children’s literacy classes
Organize and support fundraisers
Attend workshops & seminars

Undergraduate students in the Creative Inquiry may participate in any of the community engagement activities that are available to student org members. However, CI members have the additional opportunity to conduct home visits with local families to help with linguistic and other individual familial needs.
Students in the CI will:
Meet weekly for the CI meeting, earning class credit
Participate in semester-long research work such as the cookbook or oral histories projects
Have the opportunity to attend local, regional, or national research seminars/conferences
